CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances sent by Egyptians working abroad amounted to approximately $29.7 billion from January to July 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt announced that this figure represented a 28.1% increase from around $23.2 billion recorded in the same period last year. The seven-month growth added roughly $6.5 billion when compared to the same period in 2025. The data reflects funds transferred home by Egyptians employed overseas. This January-to-July rise followed the record high reported for the entire calendar year 2025.

Remittances in July alone reached about $4.5 billion, demonstrating a 20% increase from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also experienced year-on-year growth. In January, inflows totaled approximately $3.5 billion, compared to $2.9 billion a year earlier. February saw remittance inflows rise to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Combined, January and February accounted for about $7.3 billion of the total in the seven months, exceeding their combined level from the previous year by approximately $1.4 billion.
The broader fiscal-year data further highlights increased remittance inflows. Egypt received about $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, marking a 29.6% rise from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 brought in roughly $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025, representing a 15.6% monthly increase. The fiscal year spanned from July 2025 to June 2026, while the latest seven-month figure covers January through July 2026. The fiscal-year increase in dollar terms is approximately $10.8 billion.
Growth in Remittance Flows Over Multiple Periods
Data for the calendar year also indicate a rise in inflows. Remittances reached roughly $41.5 billion in 2025, reflecting a 40.5% increase from about $29.6 billion in 2024. This translates to a gain of approximately $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion in the same period the previous year. This results in an overall increase of 29.6%.
December 2025 saw a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, rising 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative remittances for the fiscal year had reached $25.6 billion, up from $20.0 billion at the same point in the prior fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt reported about $29.4 billion through February, which is 28% higher than the roughly $23.0 billion registered during the same eight-month period. The year-on-year increase for December was around $800 million.
Remittance Gains Extend into Spring
The total remittances continued to grow during spring. For the period from July to March of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows amounted to approximately $34.9 billion, a 32% rise from the $26.4 billion reported over the same span. By April, the cumulative total climbed to about $39.2 billion, representing a 33.2% increase from $29.4 billion. April alone generated roughly $4.3 billion, compared to $3.0 billion in April 2025. The month-over-month increase was 44%, equating to approximately $1.3 billion.
By May, remittance inflows for the fiscal year reached around $43.1 billion, up 31.2% from $32.8 billion a year earlier. May’s inflows totaled roughly $3.9 billion, versus about $3.4 billion in May 2025. The increase over 11 months was approximately $10.3 billion. After June, the fiscal year closed at $47.3 billion, and July’s figures pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—remain above their respective levels from the previous year.
